Living in the center of Kritzendorf

BUILDING STRUCTURE AND VERTICAL DEVELOPMENT

The building structure of the surrounding area was adopted. It is closed off towards the main road and open towards the side street.

All building volumes are largely integrated into the natural terrain.

In the area of the main road, the building volume was zoned to achieve a sense of scale. The connection to the existing building adopts the existing eaves line and conceals the existing fire wall.

On the other side, the natural slope was incorporated, creating a smooth transition between the new building and the landscape. The property was divided into three plots. A clear network of pathways provides a clear overview and easy access to the buildings and storage areas. Attractive landscaped open spaces and sightlines form the basis for a pleasant environment. A “green” village. Car-free, accessible areas for everyone.

The building, originally conceived as a U-shape, was opened up on the hillside in the upper floors. Only the ground-floor building, running parallel to the slope and housing a daycare center, garage entrance, and garbage room, continues to form the backbone of the structure. The two winged buildings with the residential floors now rest on this single-story structure, thus allowing an unobstructed view from Neudauerstraße to the green space in the south of the project site. By rotating the western wing, S2, the courtyard area was further expanded. This required reducing the size of the garden-side plots by a total of 145 m².
